Crowding.

When teeth need more room

Crowding describes teeth that overlap or sit out of line because there is not enough room for them to fit comfortably in the dental arch.

A closer look

Understanding
crowding.

Teeth can overlap, rotate, or sit out of line when there is not enough room in the dental arch. The cause and amount of crowding vary from person to person.

An orthodontic evaluation looks beyond the visible overlap. It considers how the upper and lower teeth meet, the space available, and, for growing patients, how permanent teeth are coming in.

The image above shows one patient example. Your own examination determines what is relevant to you.

  1. 01

    Where is space limited?

  2. 02

Are developing teeth or jaw growth part of the picture?

  3. 03

Which approaches are appropriate for this specific bite?
