A closer look

Understanding
deep overbite.

A deep overbite means the upper front teeth cover more of the lower front teeth than expected when biting together. The degree of overlap and the way the back teeth meet help define the concern.

An evaluation can distinguish tooth-position issues from jaw relationships and explain what, if anything, should be addressed.

What an evaluation considers

The image above shows one patient example. Your own examination determines what is relevant to you.

  1. 01

How much do the front teeth overlap?

  2. 02

How do the back teeth come together?

  3. 03

Is there visible wear or another concern that should be evaluated?
